Deceased Babies Remembered On Baby Loss Awareness Week

Deceased babies remembered by families and friends on Baby Loss Awareness Week, which is usually observed every year from Oct. 9-15. It is the time of the year when families and friends of departed infants acknowledge and remember their short-lived lives on earth.

The death of an infant can affect parents for several years. According to a study, a child's death is a very traumatic incident that can have lasting effects on the parents' lives.

The campaign, Baby Loss Awareness, recognizes how alienated and alone bereaved moms sometimes feel. This is the reason why supporters of the campaign encourage folks to try to understand the depth of the loss and damage experienced by grieving parents.

This week is a time for various charities to spread information and support about the issues surrounding miscarriage and stillbirth, Charlie O'Brien said. Thus, the campaign also gives a chance to help expel the taboo and make people know the wonderful organizations and charities that supports and give advice to people whose child has gone, according to Sands.

Charities like Kicks Count show touching stories of short-lived babies shared by grief-stricken parents. The tragic stories break the taboo and alert people that these misfortunes do occur and transpire to real individuals, according to a post in the Huffingtonpost.

"As a society we need to speak more about baby loss and break the taboo that surrounds it," Elizabeth Hutton, chief executive of Kicks Count, shared via the Huffingtonpost. She also added that we have to stop parents who have lost a kid from feeling isolated and feeling alone.

For those who want to support the campaign, they need to take part in the "Wave of Light" on Oct. 15, which is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day, according to National Awareness Days. Hutton also encourages bereaved parents to post photo of their candle on social media to make a wave of light.
