The popular Korean music group EXO has a scheduled concert in Japan on Oct. 12 and 13, but they could be performing with one less member. Lay is currently ill after he fainted at the airport just before boarding the plane to Hokkaido.
Lay suddenly fell unconscious at the Incheon airport on Tuesday right before boarding the plane to Hokkaido, Japan for EXO's solo concert, as reported by Soompi. According to reports, he was immediately brought to the hospital after the incident, but he has not regain consciousness upon his transfer. The other member of the Kpop group went ahead of Lay after the singer was taken to the hospital.
Would Lay miss EXO's concert? An official statement from the SM Entertainment said that Lay passed out because of lack of sleep and was advised by the doctors to take some rest. They will decide about him joining EXO's concert in Japan once they have checked on his condition.
Lay also had a leg injury back in March, which forced him to be on performance break. In a recent update to that, Lay said is already 90 percent recovered from the injury and that he can already dance now.
EXO's Kai is optimistic that Lay will be able to join them. "Lay hyung is ill and didn't get on the plane with us. I know you all must be worried, but I think he's okay. He will probably take a flight here tomorrow," Kai said in his Naver V Live interaction, as reported by International Business Times.
Meanwhile, reports emerged that BTS fans, who are called ARMYs, made fun of Lay's fainting at the airport, with some posting inappropriate comments like "Thank God, this didn't happen to BTS" and "Don't pretend to be sick, Lay. Rap Monster performed with a fever. You're not a true singer," according to Asz News. Other BTS fans condemned such behavior and said that fans like them give the ARMYs a bad reputation.
