"Overwatch" players are enjoying the recently released "Halloween Terror" patch from Blizzard Entertainment. All the same, a party of "Overwatch" fans still anxiously wait for the next hero release by Blizzard, believed to be Sombra.
Sombra is widely believed to be the new hacker support "hero" joining the "Overwatch" roster as Parent Herald reports. Although, given her alliance to Reaper, Sombra is a heel of sorts. Recently an image was leaked of the upcoming "Overwatch" hero.
Twitter user sssniperwolf speculated on the identity of the leaked "Overwatch" hero image. The trail began before the release of Ana, while "Overwatch" fans on Reddit began uncovering clues that led to an ARG (Augmented Reality Game).
This identified an "Overwatch" breadcrumb trail supposedly laid out by Sombra herself. Ultimately clues led to a hacked version of the website A Moment in Crime.
Originally the website was a means to read about the villains of the "Overwatch" universe. However during the ARG the site was hacked and "infected" by the Sombra protocol.
After the hack, the "Overwatch" supplementary website now has a few lines of technical prompts. Most interestingly to those participating in the ARG - it has a countdown timer.
Given that the countdown timer is almost at 94% (at the time of writing) and considering when the timer began (August 23 2016), the counter should hit 100% around mid-October (the 16th or 17th). No one really knows what this counter means for "Overwatch."
If the counter's completion hits 100% and it is another clue, no doubt the ARG community will pick up the trail again. Alternatively if this is to be the release of Sombra, it would belie the "Overwatch" theory of her Día de Muertos ("Day of the Dead") appearance. In this "Overwatch" theory, Sombra will officially join the hero roster just before Blizzcon 2016.
Mid-week is usually when "Overwatch" patches drop. However, would Blizzard deploy Sombra while "Overwatch" players are still neck deep in the "Halloween Terror" experience? Blizzard Entertainment's "Overwatch" is currently available on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
