Good news, "Final Fantasy" fans! Speaking at the 2016 "Final Fantasy XIV" Fan Festival this week in Las Vegas, Square Enix officially unveiled the game's upcoming expansion titled, "Stormblood." Based on the latest reports, director Naoki Yoshida explained the details of the expansion including the Ala Mhigo location and the introduction of Zenos, the expansion's antagonist.
According to IGN, Square Enix aims to release "Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood" expansion with a content similar to a full game. In addition, the expansion will also bring dungeons, high-end raids and new primal enemies.
What's more interesting in "Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood" is the fact that the game will also feature several new areas. Polygon also added that "Stormblood" will also boost its level cap from 60 to 70, MMO's combat skill system revamp, new job classes introduction and the inventories expansion.
As for the skills that are either ineffective or unused, "Final Fantasy XIV" director Naoki Yoshida revealed it will be changed or removed. At the fan event on Friday, GameSpot revealed that the "Stormblood" expansion will also be accompanied by the 4.0 update.
The previous "Final Fantasy XIV" expansion called, "Heavenward" will also see some promising improvements as Yoshida vowed it will have a "full standalone game's worth of content." Even though no specific details were shared, Square Enix promised fans the game's second expansion is "extreme."
As for "Final Fantasy XIV" 4.0 update, Yoshida stressed the upcoming patch will ensure the changes don't disrupt the service since the expansion is a "serious technical challenge." As for "Stormblood" required specs, Square Enix urged gamers to upgrade their 32-bit operating systems to 64-bit.
Meanwhile, Square Enix also announced that the PS3 version of "Final Fantasy XIV" will end when "Stormblood" expansion will be released. The official release date for the game's second expansion has yet to be announced but reports have been teasing it would be in the summer of 2017.
In other "Final Fantasy XIV"-related reports, gamers will have access to the Halloween-themed worlds of All Saint's Wake, which will run starting Oct. 19 until Nov. 1. MMORPG reported that payers embark on special Adventurers' Guild quests and earn special event items such as armor, minions and other items.
