When "Nashville" returns for its fifth season and debuts in CMT, fans could expect a lot of changes as the new boss reboots the hit country music show. Aside from that, is Maddie (Lennon Stella) going to have new romance this season?
In an exclusive behind-the-scenes video the network released, "Nashville" Season 5 new co-showrunner Marshall Herskovitz promised some major changes in how the show is created. According Herskovitz, the show will have short scripts. That would give more time for the music to play out.
As reported by TVLine, Marshall Herskovitz, whose co-showrunner is with Ed Zwick, also said that there will fewer incidents in the storyline. Instead, "Nashville" will focus on "the depth and the complexity of the relationships instead of just feeling you needed to have incident piling on incident."
In addition, more musical styles will be explored in "Nashville" Season 5 episodes. Herskovitz noted that it's not just about country music as the show is the crossroads of the entire music world.
The expansion in music styles come with the casting of new character to be played by Joseph David-Jones. He is going to portray as Clay described as a modern and electric artist. Joseph David-Jones, known for his role in DC's "Legends of Tomorrow," is reportedly going to be Maddie's new love interest.
According to TV Guide, in the middle of their diverse socioeconomic differences, Clay and Maddie will find a common ground in music, which will draw them closer. The publication added, "And while the idea of dating a 'bad boy' may appeal to Maddie initially... she's going to be in for a lot more than she bargained for."
"Nashville" Season 5, produced by the Lionsgate, will debut on CMT with a two-hour premiere episode on Thursday, Jan. 5, at 9/8c. "Nashville" Season 5 episodes will be available to stream on Hulu the next day.
