Bill Hudson Rejects Children Kate & Oliver; Wants Nothing to Do With Them

The ex-husband of movie star Goldie Hawn went public over the week, disowning their two eldest children Oliver and Kate Hudson.

"I had five birth children but I now consider myself a father of three. I no longer recognise Oliver and Kate as my own. He [Oliver] is dead to me now. As is Kate," Bill Hudson told The Mail in an interview, after a so-called "hate" post by his son Oliver.

The 65-year-old Bill was saddened and enraged after seeing his son Oliver's Father's Day Instagram post: a throwback photograph of him, Kate and their father dating some 30 years back. The photo came with the message, "Happy Abandonment Day....@katehudson."

"I would ask them to stop using the Hudson name," Bill added. "If what he [Oliver] wanted was me out of their lives, then he's succeeded. I don't want to see either of my eldest children ever again."

Goldie has been very vocal about her accusations of Bill abandoning their two children. After her separation with Bill, Goldie has had an ongoing relationship with actor Kurt Russell. For years that followed, Oliver and Kate has looked up to Kurt as their father, as proven by their heartwarming Father's Day posts to Kurt.

After the Instagram post went viral, it sparked comments over topics of fatherhood and abandonment. Bill has maintained that he never abandoned his children and has always tried to stay in contact with them, sending them greeting cards and calling them on their birthdays.

He blames Goldie for "poisoning" his children against him, saying, "I never abandoned my family. I never walked away. I wanted to be a father to Kate and Oliver but Goldie made it harder and harder for me to see them."

"When we split up, she never had a bad word to say about me," Bill says. "But when Kurt came on the scene, the narrative changed and I became the big, bad wolf."

According to Yahoo! Parenting, there is always a chance to fix their situation, and they can and should move towards that. Family therapist and divorce mediator Ken Neumann tells Yahoo! Parenting that Bill plays a big role to be able to mend their relationships, "When you become a parent your obligation to your child is forever," he said.
