"Billy Lyn's Long Halftime Walk", the most recent project of acclaimed director, Ang Lee is probably a must-see being the most technologically advanced movie so far. Nevertheless, it may be wise not to expect too much as the project continues to suffer from negative reviews.
The film which recently held its premiere in the 54th New York Film Festival is the sole movie to be shot at 120 frames per second(FPS) in 3D, clearly an ambitious attempt as the industry standard is only 24 FPS. Peter Jackson's, "The Hobbit: an Unexpected Journey" also went beyond the standard but not nearly close by going 48 FPS.
The movie adaptation of the novel by Ben Fountain features the story of Billy Lyn, a 19-year old army specialist, who after surviving an intense battle in Iraq comes home to America as a hero. With the use of breakthrough technology, the filmmakers tried to convey the reality and horror of a post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The result though failed to gain a positive reaction from the critics.

An Entertainment Weekly article posted mixed reactions from viewers. Many think the 120 FPS made the movie very confusing and the conversations rather fake. On a positive note, some critics did notice how technology managed to produce a number of stellar scenes. Meanwhile, Brent Lang in an article that appeared in Variety.com called the movie a beautiful mess.
"Billy Lyn's Long Halftime Walk" stars Joe Alwyn, a newcomer actor which plays the main character. The cast also includes Kristen Stewart, Vin Diesel, Steve Martin, and Chris Tucker.
TriStar Pictures is set to release "Billy Lyn's Long Halftime Walk" on November 11.
