‘The Winds Of Winter’ Release Date, News & Updates: George R.R. Martin Fans To Boycott ‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 7?

"The Winds Of Winter" from George R.R. Martin is neck and neck with HBO's "Game Of Thrones" Season 7 putting GRRM fans in an awkward position. "The Winds Of Winter" is, by far, the most controversial book in "A Song Of Ice And Fire" ("ASOIF") saga not because of sex, gore or violence but also because of the timing of delivery by George R.R. Martin.

George R.R. Martin legitimately has until 2018 to deliver "The Winds Of Winter," as Parent Herald cites. However, the momentum of the "Game Of Thrones" series on HBO essentially framed "The Winds Of Winter" release by George R.R. Martin delayed.

According to The Guardian, George R.R. Martin tried to keep up with the "Game Of Thrones" seasons on HBO. George R.R. Martin had an internal commitment to deliver "The Winds Of Winter" last December 2015.

For various reasons, George R.R. Martin missed the December 2015 deadline. "Game Of Thrones" Season 6 premiered and ran with no "The Winds Of Winter" launch preceding or succeeding it.

Both "ASOIF" and "Game Of Thrones" fans alike are aware that the HBO series departed from "A Song Of Ice And Fire" liberally in Season 6. The same is true for "Game Of Thrones" Season 7.

However, both "ASOIF" and "Game Of Thrones" fans also know that the HBO series retained and will retain the main arcs and twists that George R.R. Martin intended to resolve in "The Winds Of Winter" and "A Dream Of Spring." HBO announcements say "Game Of Thrones" executive producers David Benioff and DB Weiss are condensing the remaining developments in "A Song Of Ice And Fire" saga in Season 7 and 8.

With major revelations dropping in "Game Of Thrones" Season 7 and 8, the possibility of "A Song Of Ice And Fire" fans are skipping the remaining seasons of the HBO series is a likely scenario. George R.R. Martin has been unveiling the saga of "A Song Of Ice And Fire" across 20 years now.

If "A Song Of Ice And Fire" fans waited through 20 years to arrive at the final unveilings in "A Dream Of Spring," will they be willing for "Game Of Thrones Season 7 and 8 to spoil the major arcs dropping in "The Winds Of Winter" and the final "ASOIF" book? While many may, a large number may actually hold back.

How many "A Song Of Ice And Fire" fans are skipping "Game Of Thrones" Season 7 in wait of "The Winds Of Winter?" If this becomes the case, perhaps "Game Of Thrones" Season 8 will fare better than S7 if George R.R. Martin is able to release "The Winds Of Winter" in 2017.
