The long wait for Android 7.0 Nougat update is over. It has already been released for designated Google Nexus devices. However, the update will be available for Sony Xperia X and Z Series smartphones very soon.
According to Mojandroid, the Android N update strategy document from Sony Slovakia has newly leaked that the Android Nougat update for the Sony Xperia XZ and Xperia X was set to receive on the later part of October. On the other hand, the Sony Xperia X and X Compact will be getting the new update this November. And finally, the Sony Xperia Z5 series including Xperia Z5 Premium, Xperia Z5 Compact, and Xperia Z5 are supposed to get it in December.
Furthermore, it suggests that the firmware upgrade will be received by the Sony Xperia XA and XA Ultra in the early months of the next year. Unfortunately, updates for Sony's low-end devices such as Xperia C4, Xperia C5 Ultra, Xperia M4 Aqua, and Xperia M5 are not confirmed.
However, the newly leaked update was not yet confirmed by Sony that is why it is best not to be excited about it. It is advised that the information given above should be taken with skepticism. Most probably, if it will happen, updates will reach its users on a later date as per announced. But, users of selected smartphones will undoubtedly be thankful for the new update, most especially if it will be released already.
