Chris Brown has announced that he will be filing a paternity suit to gain a better financial custody arrangement between him and his 1-year-old daughter.
According to Hollywoodlife, the 26-year-old singer has requested for a judge to arrange the agreement for his daughter Royalty. He reportedly disagreed with Nia Guzman-Amey, his daughter's mother. She has been asking for him to give $15,000 a month for child support instead of the current amount of $2,500.
TMZ reports that Chris Brown paid Guzman-Amey the monthly allowance, which stopped last month since she was expecting more. He disagreed and wanted the courts to decide for them. The mother's lawyer, Carl Moore, stated that they will be asking for back child support and a big monthly payout.
Meanwhile, Brown filed the legal documents in Houston, Texas. If granted, he may be able fight for custody of Royalty. He thinks that the judge's decision on the amount will be closer to the amount that he was previously giving them.
This custody battle has been an issue since Brown learned that he is Royalty's father through DNA testing. Originally, Ms. Guzman-Amey's boyfriend was listed on the birth certificate as the father. It was changed after Brown was confirmed to be the biological father.
It was reported that Brown wanted to establish a close relationship with his daughter. He even wanted her and Nia to live close to him in Los Angeles, CA.
He may not be romantically linked to Nia but he says he wants to be regularly around Royalty. It was reported that he was willing to shoulder the bills provided that he has access to her.
There is an ongoing paternity suit that may change the course of their relationship. In a separate TMZ report, Nia allegedly called Chris as a "deadbeat dad" who thinks that they should be treated cheaply. She said their daughter is suffering because of his refusal to give the amount that she wanted.
Sources tell that Brown is already tired of the money demands from Nia and that the latter seems to think of their situation as similar to winning the lottery, which the singer is not happy about.
