Billy Bush was caught in the crossfire of politics when the 2005 video of Donald Trump's controversial statement leaked out. Billy Bush was seen laughing alongside with the comments of the Republican presidential candidate.
With all the hullabaloo, a settlement has been reached. In fact, there were speculations that Billy Bush has closed a $10 million worth of deal. However, according to US Magazine, lawyer of Billy Bush denied that the settlement reached such amount.
The lawyer firmly said there is no settlement reaching $10 million worth. The said amount circulated due to the speculations of some people since the TV host has a three-year contract signed this year with NBC network amounting to $3.5 million annually.
After getting suspended from the show, Billy Bush has given a public apology. He admitted he was very ashamed and embarrassed. Daily Mail reported that Billy Bush released an official statement: "I am deeply grateful for the conversations I've had with my daughters, and for all of the support from family, friends and colleagues. I look forward to what lies ahead."
The official departure of Billy Bush was confirmed by an e-mail to the staff of NBC last Monday. It mentioned that Billy Bush will be exiting from the 9am hour of the TODAY show which will be effective starting today. The e-mail read: "While he was a new member of the TODAY team, he was a valued colleague and longtime member of the broader NBC family. We wish him success as he goes forward.", it further stated.
