Android 7.0 Nougat Latest News, Update: LG, Samsung On The List To Receive Google’s Latest Firmware Update

With Verizon and Google promising Pixel owners that they will have the latest Android update all the same time, other Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMS) are also in line to receive the Nougat. LG will be on the list with a November target, while Samsung's time has yet to be determined.

The LG V20 was the very first Smartphone to run the Android 7.0 Nougat right off the box. BlackBerry's fourth Android device, the Mercury, also got the same blessing alongside the Pixel and the Pixel XL. The latter comes with no question considering that it came from the helm of the Search Engine giant. Other manufacturers on the other hand would have to wait for a while but in cases like these, the rollout would be smooth as butter.

But as far as LG is concerned, HNGN reported that the flagship G5 will be receiving the Android 7.0 update in the "middle of next month." The LG G3 was another device that was found running the new firmware update over on Geekbench, but there's still no official release coming from LG as to when it would flex out the update. Device tweakers over at XDA Developers even said that users shouldn't take the schedule "as a date that is set in stone" as the Android 7.0 Nougat is still on its testing phase.

Meanwhile, International Business Times said that the Samsung Galaxy S7 "and other eligible Samsung devices" will again be receiving the Android Nougat on a later note. This is because of the fact that the South Korean company was late in rolling out the Android Marshmallow "with then flagship Galaxy S6 receiving it five months after" other OEMs got it. However, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge were found testing the Android Nougat in Poland. Even if this is the case, it might take them "two to three months before the firmware is fully developed for seeding."

If this trend follows, other Galaxy S7 variants will most likely receive the Android Nougat in the first quarter of 2017. Also in the list are similar high-end Samsung Smartphones such as the Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge +, S6 Active, S6 Ironman Edition and the S6 Active.
