Amanda Seyfried: 'I Am Taking Meds For 11 Years'

Being one of the most sought after actress of this generation, defying different movie genre from musicals to action to comedy, having promotions many other actresses dream to have and a man in her arms, many would think that Amanda Seyfried has nothing to be anxious about. But the truth is, she is and has been for a long time. Amanda Seyfried has OCD.

In an interview with Allure, the "Ted 2" actress talks about her mental illness and her new house in Stone Ridge. "You don't see mental illness: It's not a mass; it's not a cyst, but it's still there..." said Amanda Seyfried to the common perception of mental health issues, adding to her statement that the issue was not being taken seriously as other health issues.

The "Mama Mia!" actress was also frank in saying that she has been on medication for more than a decade. Amanda Seyfried started taking her meds when she was 19 and decided to never be off of it.

"Why is there a need to prove it?" she says, explaining her continuous battle with the illness. Amanda Seyfried is at a minimum dosage and is having lesser and lesser anxiety episodes due to her OCD.

Before, the "Les Miserables" actress thought she had brain tumor and had an MRI scan done. Amanda Seyfried found out that there is no tumor, as she was referred to a psychiatrist instead. Now, she has been taking therapy sessions for her mental illness, according to her interview with Marie Claire as reported by E! Online.

Amanda Seyfried's new house's renovation mirrors the controlling side of her OCD. She had a barn house built for her guest but decided to leave a gas range out of the kitchen design. The "Red Riding Hood" star opted not to put a stove to avoid fire accidents.

The "Lovelace" actress' new home in New York, which she bought in 2013, is now her new escape place to avoid the loud life of a celebrity. Surrounded by animals such as her dog, cats, chickens, goats and pigs and her fruit and vegetable garden, Amanda Seyfried's home is very reflective of her love for nature and simplicity in life.

Recently, Amanda Seyfried shook the world with her very much simple engagement ring. According to a Parent Herald report, the ring which is actually just a gold band is a nod to her simplicity in life.
