School Madness: Why Getting Kids On Their Feet Early Morning For School Can Be Draining

Each day begins with a parent knocking senselessly on a child's bedroom door, sometimes yelling in hopes that the child wakes up for school. Yet most of the time, these efforts are futile.

A mother usually rushes down the child's bed, tears down his blanket, desperately compels him to wake up for school and then returns to the kitchen so that the breakfast doesn't get burnt. When she returns to check on the child, it's just too infuriating to see him snoring on the bed again.

A loud roar ensues. The child gets up on his feet but he has already missed the school bus. An atmosphere of crankiness builds up for both the child and the mother. The mother realizes that she'll have to drop her kid to school and will surely be late for work. This happens with almost all moms.

Being a mom isn't easy at all. To keep up with all her child's needs, she needs to be prepared for everything. But how can this situation improve? Women aren't robots who are programmed to automatically cater to their husbands, children and then themselves. It's a lot to do if one stands in a woman's shoes.

Most parents start teaching their children time management from an early age. Children are told to set their own alarms before a mother barges in all panicky and rushes the child to wake up. Self-reliance is good for children to start learning at an early age.

According to Empowering Parents, the National Sleep Foundation claims that a typical teenager requires an average of nine hours of sleep at night. But this is hardly ever fulfilled, resulting in partial sleep-deprivation during school days.

The biological sleep patterns of adolescents make it difficult for teens to sleep before 11 pm and nearly impossible for them to wake up in the morning on time. Aha Parenting suggests that when a child has to wake early to get up for school, he's operating against his biological drive to sleep.

However, this doesn't imply that the biology of adolescents have to match with the demands of the outside world. It only means to cope with the requirements sufficiently enough so that both, the outside world and sleeping patterns remain undisturbed.

It's very important for parents to ensure that their children are getting enough sleep. Otherwise, students sleep through their whole day in school, which really questions their entire purpose of being forced to wake up at dawn. Parents ought to make sure that a balance is struck between sleep and school so that both are pacified just enough for a person to stay healthy and remain focused in school.
