UNC Linebacker J. Smith Out For The Rest Of The 2016 Season, UNC Team In Its Toughest Situation?

The UNC is in a terrible condition right now with their previous loss of their starting guard Caleb Peterson, now without their linebacker J. Smith on the field the entire 2016 season.

The ex- Scotland High best defensive player and linebacker Jonathan Smith needs to go a surgery on Thursday to repair an injured foot. In Fox Sports news said that the freshman had accidentally broken his right foot during practice before the Virginia Tech game on October 8 which he will have his surgery in Chapel Hill.

The freshman linebacker J. Smith had served as the backup to starting middle linebacker with Andre Smith in this season. He had appeared in the field at least five games and recorded a hard one tackle before suffering a broken foot during practices before the Virginia Tech game.

The freshman J. Smith is the son of Sharonica and Jonathan Smith Jr. who was born on June 11. He was ranked the No. 26 player in North Carolina which noted by 247sports.com and ranked the No. 11 inside linebacker in the country. He also helped in leading Scotland to its fifth-straight Southeastern Conference championship by providing the highlight for the Scotland in the regular season finale against Richmond Senior and picking off a pass in the red zone during the final

Smith graduated a semester early from high school and enrolled at UNC last January. The freshman J. Smith executed his performance well enough in spring practice and preseason camp that he earned the backup spot behind Andre Smith.

In the fayobserver news the freshman 6-foot-1, 235-pound J. Smith was twice named in the Southeastern 4-A Conference with an all-state Defensive Player of the Year name award while he was still the Scotland team. He accomplished over 120 tackles and another 17 tackles for loss as a senior.
