'iPhone 6S, iPhone 7' Release Date & Specs: Next-Gen iPhone Confirmed to be Bigger Than iPhone 6 [Rumors]

Apple struck a home run when it released last year's iPhone 6 and its larger variant, the iPhone 6 Plus. Many fans of the popular smartphone have been clamoring for a larger phone to match Samsung's Galaxy Note series.

As people looking to upgrade to the upcoming device, those who want an even larger screen may rejoice as new reports are coming in that the iPhone 6S or the iPhone 7 (as the name has yet to be confirmed) will be bigger than the existing iPhone 6.

According to Forbes, leaked schematics reveal that the next-generation iPhone will increase, but only a little bit. "...it measures 138 x 67 x 7.1 mm (0.2mm fatter than the iPhone 6). The good news is this equates to an overall size increase of under 3% which should be imperceptible to most users," wrote the publication.

In addition, with the addition of the rumored feature, Force Touch, it was shared that a thin layer on the display will be added making the new device about 0.1 to 0.2 mm thick.

Force Touch is currently available on the Apple Watch and the MacBook Pro line of devices. The technology recognizes contact pressure allowing for more functions and commands depending on the amount of pressure exerted by the user. This opens up a whole range of new control options that has the potential to greatly enhance user experience.

iPhone 6S/ iPhone 7 Rumors and News

There is already a great deal of speculation surrounding the Cupertino-based firm's upcoming tech. With regards to size and design, any changes to the body would be "too minimal to notice," reports the Inquisitr.

With regards to the camera, there are rumors that there will be a dual-lens camera system, a 12-megapixel camera, a boosted memory size of 2GB of RAM. There is no word in terms of storage, currently Apple is offering an entry-model with 16GB as well as two other storage sizes, 64GB and 128GB. Most sources have put forth that the size options will remain the same.

CNet has also reported that there is a possibility Apple will turn to a new Qualcomm LTE chip that will open up increased speeds of web-connectivity all the while saving on battery life.

It's expected that the iPhone 6S or iPhone 7, whichever Apple chooses to go with, will be released sometime in the fall. This is the typical timeline of launches for the tech giant. It's also expected to come pre-loaded with Apple's iOS 9 operating system.

Stay tuned for more.
