Smartphones Ruining Families?; Solutions To Stop It and Achieve Balance

A study suggests that smartphones have been producing a debilitating effect on family life as these items have become distractions in what is supposed to be "quality time" spent with the family. The study was conducted with a sample of 35 parents and caregivers around Boston, probably reflective of the family life around the area.

In a technologically advanced world, people have become much more accessible due to smartphones - and that includes work getting directly connected to parents. That means work has been much more demanding for parents, and that it consumes the much-needed quality time among families as rest days and time-offs have become "flexible" so to speak.

Kid Spot notes that a phone is similar to a brick wall between people striking conversations as they bluntly describe it as a phone wall. Screen addiction also affects children, most especially teenagers, but the emphasis is placed on parents who play a much more important role to the family, not just on being breadwinners and providing food to the table, but also that connection with the kids.

Today.com offers several solutions, though, for helping parents find the right balance to ensure that they get the needed quality time with their kids. These solutions were gathered from several parents who have proven that these actions have worked from time to time.

Parents should acknowledge kids more often and should take a closer eye on their basic needs and wants as their tastes change from time to time, and they would want their parents to notice them. They should also do anything work-related such as checking email and catching up calls and replying to clients on their free time which does not involve the kids such as before the kids get up or while the kids are in school or bed.

Of course, it all boils down to what really works and how to set one's priorities especially when it comes to family. Work-Life Balance should be a thing especially to parents in order to build a harmonious family; it was not too long ago when the Pope encouraged families to put down their smartphones and spend some quality time with each other.
