Actor Ben Affleck might be going through difficult times in his marriage to Jennifer Garner but his career seems to be on the climb.
Aside from staring in the highly-anticipated "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice," the 42-year-old actor and filmmaker is said to be in talks to take on heavier role in an upcoming "Batman" movie.
In a Deadline exclusive, Affleck is said to be adding director and co-writer to his title in an unnamed "Batman" movie. He will work with Geoff Johns to co-write the film's script and helm the film he will also star in as the caped crusader.
Deadline reported the following news:
"My studio sources tell me that Affleck and Johns are well in synch and have more than found their rhythm. In fact, they are likely to turn in a script before the end of the summer, prior to Affleck going off to direct Live By Night in November. Affleck postponed that pic to star in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. The Batman movie would shoot after he finishes Live By Night, and the plot would reflect the Batman character that emerges after Batman V Superman and Justice League, the latter of which comes out November 17, 2017. DC and Warner Bros have set a long list of superhero movies that take the Marvel formula of interspersing characters from one film to the next, so it's unclear when Affleck's Batfilm will be slotted."
Affleck will make his Gotham debut in the "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" film alongside Henry Cavill's Superman/ Clark Kent. The movie will feature the two DC comic book heroes taking it to each other in an epic showdown that will include other superheroes like Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and Aquaman (Jason Momoa).
The "Dawn of Justice" film will set up the 2017 "Justice League Part 1" movie followed by 2019's "Justice League Part 2." Other DC Comic adaptations currently in the works include "Wonder Woman," "The Flash," and "Suicide Squad."
Zack Snyder's "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" will be released in March 2016.
More about the upcoming DC films could be announced as Affleck is set to appear on stage on Saturday for Warner's San Diego Comic-Con panel presentation. Entertainment Weekly shares he is expected to be joined by Snyder, Cavill, Gadot, and other cast Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, and Holly Hunter.
