Comedienne Amy Schumer has made a parody of Beyonce's "Formation" recently which has caused a huge storm in the Twitter world because of its hints of social appropriation apparently. But according to a report, the pop superstar's sources have informed CNN that the singer was actually aware of the usage of her song and even gave a go-signal to the Hollywood's funny gal.
Some social media users have expressed their disappointment over the parody, accusing the comedienne of insensitivity to the song's racial political content. The hashtag #AmySchumerGottaGoParty started trending on Twitter last weekend.
Netizens may have to stop throwing too much fuss though because it seems like the approval from Beyonce may be true. Amy Schumer's parody video was actually first released on Tidal, the music-streaming platform owned by the husband of Beyonce herself, rap mogul Jay-Z. Shot while on location filming a movie, the video features Schumer with co-stars Joan Cusack, Wanda Sykes and Goldie Hawn dancing and lip-syncing to the hit song "Formation." The parody was later on uploaded on Schumer's YouTube channel.
Schumer may have not been feeling affected by the Twitter stir though, as she posted on her Instagram account her photo with the caption, "You know you that b***h when you cause all this conversation. Thanks for the exclusive release Tidal! We had so much fun making this tribute. All love and women inspiring each other. #strongertogether."
It was followed by a video post on Monday night, as Schumer saying to the Instagram video, "I'm going to bed. I just wanna say, I'm sober first of all. I'm tired, a lot of work today. I'm grateful, I'm grateful for all this sh*t. I'm grateful to be alive right now during this time. I hope you have a good night too."
Beyonce has not yet commented on the issue on her social media accounts. Do you think Beyonce really gave her blessings on Amy's "Formation" parody?
