There is a new drug called "Flakka," and it has gained notoriety after a video of a man apparently eating a person's face went viral. Flakka is the new designer drug that has been spreading all across Florida, and it has already started popping up in other states such as Texas and Ohio.
The drug can be used in a variety of ways such as by snorting, smoking, injection, or even swallowed. The mind-altering drug has been labeled as the "zombie drug" because it has been known to make people do things which they could only see zombies doing in the movies and television such as eating faces of people, impaling themselves on fences, and running naked thinking people were chasing them.
The National Institute on Drug Abuse reveals alpha-pyrrolidinopentiophenone (alpha-PVP), otherwise known as Flakka, is related to the synthetic cathinone drugs called "bath salts" which also grew popular the past few months. It also says that the drug has been known to cause heart attack and could very well lead to a dangerously high body temperature which would lead to kidney failure or kidney damage.
According to the Rolling Stone, Flakka simulates the effects of methamphetamine and cocaine but at a much cheaper level, which is why the drug has been popular to college students. It is reportedly 10 times more powerful than cocaine.
Vaping with Flakka is perhaps the easiest way to get high as the chemicals easily enter the bloodstream which would be the easiest way to overdose and suffer several consequences. Drug addiction has never been this dangerous with Flakka.
People who have used Flakka experienced different side effects. At first, they would feel euphoric such as having an increased sex drive, more focused and determined; however, the more they use Flakka, the more they feel the effects such as plummeting sex drives, panic attacks, depression, suicidal thoughts, hallucinations, and paranoia.
