The third and final installment to the "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie adaptation may feature Ian Somerhalder. It can be recalled that the 37-year-old actor has been one of the top choices to play the role of Christian Grey in the adaptation of E.L. James' erotic trilogy.
While Jamie Dornan is already playing the role of Grey in the movie, fans began speculating that Somerhalder may play another role in the final installment, "Fifty Shades Freed." Rumors about his casting began after the "TVD' actor read some parts of the script for "Fifty Shades of Grey."
As Julie Plec shared in an interview with ET, this was just a shout out to fans of the book series. However, fans continue to hold out hope that Somerhalder will appear in the "Fifty Shades Darker" sequel as another character now that "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 is ending.
Plec also teased on a possible crossover between "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 and "The Originals" Season 4. As Bustle notes in its report, the latter will be having a time jump in order to stand on its own even without its predecessor.
This means that some vampires from Mystic Falls may appear in New Orleans when "The Originals" Season 4 premieres on The CW in 2017. As to which characters will be crossing over to another show, however, still remains to be seen.
