Former NBA champion Kevin Garnett retired and left his on-court duties before the 2016-2017 season, but sources say that he could make a possible return to the league soon.
Bleacher Report in an article said that Kevin Garnett would come back as a coach and not as a player. Writer Adrian Wojnarowski confirms this news as the former NBA MVP had coaching interest and has talked with teams including the Cleveland Cavaliers and Milwaukee Bucks. However, hours before Wojnarowski's report, NBA on TNT, on their official Twitter account released a video announcing Kevin Garnett's decision to join the crew. In its Twitter update, it said, "The next chapter...#BigTNT"
Kevin Garnett over his career has been tagged as one of the most passionate players in the game. Most of his spectacular moments happened when he played for the Minnesota Timberwolves where he is currently standing as the top leading scorer of the organization and Boston Celtics where he won a championship.
During the off-season, "The Big Ticket" decided to hang up his sneakers, finally putting an end to his basketball career. Kevin Garnett retired with 26,071 points, 14,662 rebounds and an MVP award during the 2003-2004 season.Kevin Garnett will go down as one of the best and most tenacious power forwards of the league.
Head coach Tyronn Lue of the Cleveland Cavaliers has expressed his interest to having Kevin Garnett on his coaching staff. In an interview with ESPN.com's Dave Mcmenamin last Sept 29, he said, "I talked to him about it..I'd definitely make a spot for him if he wanted to back and coach."
If Kevin Garnett will return and join LeBron James in Cleveland Cavaliers this might help Cavs face Golden State Warriors, who is their strong competitor in the NBA title. The Warriors just added Kevin Durant in their roster and Cavs need a veteran to strengthen their lineup too, which Kevin Garnett fits well.
Not only is Tyronn Lue interested in working with Kevin Garnett, Los Angeles Clippers head coach, Doc Rivers has also expressed his intentions in bringing in "The Big Ticket" to work with him on the bench. Last September 30, Kevin Garnett was seen practicing at the Clippers facility, working and mentoring their All-star forward, Blake Griffin.
Given his coaching interests will be accepted, Kevin Garnett will definitely bring that defensive mindset to the team. Stay tuned for more updates on Kevin Garnett's return to the NBA league in the upcoming days and weeks.
