Nick Cave’s Son Dies After Brighton Cliff Fall: 'He Was Our Beautiful, Happy Loving Boy,' Says Family

Following a 60-feet fall, the son of rock singer Nick Cave, Arthur Cave, was found dead at the Ovingdean Gap Cliff in Brighton, England on Tuesday. The reason for the fall remains unknown, BBC News has learned.

Arthur, 15, was believed to had suffered several untreated injuries and later died in pain after he was rushed to the Royal Sussex Country Hospital. Arthur was out with a friend when the incident happened.

Arthur's parents, together with his twin brother Earl, is mourning over the loss of a "beautiful, happy loving boy."

"We ask that we be given the privacy our family needs to grieve at this difficult time," Nick and wife, Susie Bick, said in a statement as quoated by The Guardian.

BBC reports that during a tribute held on the said cliff, Earl left a note for his departed twin brother, which said, "I love you so much. You were a joy to be around and I will never forget you. You were the best brother I could ever ask for." The Guardian also revealed that Nick and Susie visited the spot where their son died, but only spent a few moments there.

The family has lived in Brighton for 11 years, and Arthur and Earl have done several school activities together like playing parts in Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing. The twins had just completed their year 10 at school.

"He loved his friends and family, he was a caring guy and I've been distraught since it happened;" one of Arthur's friends said during the tribute.

Meanwhile, Earl and his family learned that Arthur took some selfies approximate to the cliff. Dailymail reports that the boy managed to upload some of these photographs to his snapshot account minutes before his fall.

Dailymail notes that he looks "relaxed and happy" and that there are no clues that the incident would have happened. "I'm not sure what Arthur was doing at the time, I have no idea how he would have fallen. He was just such a nice guy, you couldn't have asked for a nicer mate," his best friend, Ed Bucknall, tells Dailymail.

Sussex Police reported that the body of the teenage boy was found on an underpass at the foot of the cliff, approximately 10 miles away from a group, who was having fun and taking pictures while sitting at the cliff's edge last Sunday. CNN reports that the police are not treating the case as suspicious.

Nick Cave is the frontman of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. He's an Australian author, actor, songwriter and singer, to which he has been called as the "Prince of Darkness" due to his songs' emotional intensity.
