"The Night Of" might have the same fate with "Game of Thrones" season 8 during HBO's time when it was faced with tough competition. They have to be canceled for changes to happen as management transfers hands. Can "Westworld" be an exception?
During the assembly attended by HBO staff, programming president, Casey Bloys addresses the confusion in the Hollywood scene for the proposed merger of AT&T and Time Warner. In fact, Bloys is now in the position to look after the network generally speaking and he discloses his insights with "Westworld," according to Variety.
The new merger has no plans to micromanage the new venture under their umbrella. It will be managed by the same top executives and the celebrities are retained. They are also happy with the kind of content HBO came up with and offered incentives to even make them more informative but exciting to the "Westworld" viewers.
It's Bloys call to cancel "Vinyl" and oversee that the launch of "Westworld" is a huge success. It garners 12 million viewers on average each episode. So it can only be improved and not canceled.
The sci-fi trend combined with the summer flicks that "The Night Of" is known for must be incorporated with the fresh episodes if ever. They must also jive with the current "arms race" issues to relate to reality while tuning into "Westworld," as noted by HBOAsia.
It will be challenging to come up with a new idea for the "The Night Of" season but Steve Zaillian and Richard Price are already laying them out. However, it's not an easy task to do so rest assured that they will need more time.
Under the new merger, the "The Night Of" will have a long break but ultimately already in the process for a much more exciting and worthwhile comeback. The new content is in the making to delight "Westworld" fans but not very soon.
