'GTA 6' Development Rumored To Be Delayed Again, But 'GTA Online' Getting An Expansion

Three years since the release of "GTA V" in September 2013, fans have long been anticipating a "GTA 6" reveal from Rockstar Games. However, with the recent announcement of "Red Dead Redemption 2," it is unlikely that a "GTA 6" reveal will come any time soon.

According to Mobile & Apps, speculations suggest that "GTA Online" will be getting more expansions. This could mean the development for "GTA 6" is slowed down, especially with the reveal of "Red Dead Redemption 2."

This could be a cause for worry for fans looking forward to a "GTA 6" announcement in the near future. Multiple sources indicate that Rockstar Games sees "GTA Online" as a video game worthy of getting even more attention for a longer period of time.

A post on GTA Forum by Softsecret points out that Rockstar Games has already formulated a roadmap for "GTA Online" and its future DLC expansions. The DLC releases are expected to focus chiefly on the game's multiplayer aspect.

It must be also taken into consideration that Rockstar Games has just announced "Red Dead Redemption 2," despite the lack of official news prior to the reveal. The same could happen to "GTA 6," but it is unlikely to be publicized very soon after the reveal of "RDR 2".

The "Grand Theft Auto" series has been Rockstar Games' most successful franchise. So a cancellation of "GTA 6" should be impossible, according to Neurogadget.

"GTA 6" is rumored to have a female protagonist, after criticism for the roles of female characters in previous installments of the GTA series. Additionally, "GTA 6" is expected to feature VR technology that will bring the game to another level.

None of the "GTA 6" speculations have been confirmed by Rockstar Games so far. With the immense success of "GTA 5," Rockstar Games is most likely not going to have a problem selling "GTA 6."
