Love Vs. Hate [Parenting Tips]: Teaching Children Love In A World Filled With Hate

Children are capable of learning things really quickly, especially the bad ones. In an era where hate is visible everywhere, it is really easy for a child to learn to hate and it is difficult for a parent as it takes a lot of effort and time to teach them to love and not to harbor animosity and resentment.

Deborah Gilboa is a doctor and a parenting expert who has observed that home is the place where children get to learn racism and hate from. Gilboa says, "As parents, it's our job to help our children respect others and learn to see differences as interesting, not scary..."

According to Psychology Today, Gilboa has four sons and she usually have to face generalization comments about the boys from a lot of people. Even though she does not always discuss it with people, one thing she always does is that she discuss it with her own boys, which is the most important thing to do as a parent.

The Telegraph reports that television and social media are the ones that affects and influence the children the most. Most of the things that are shown are violent and some are even encouraging to spread hate all over the world. Due to the negativity on television and social media, these lead to the division in mankind and have given bad names to few of them.

Parents should tell their children to think analytically and it is really important to tell them not to generalize or stereotype people. Instead, they should know and remember that not all people are or could be bad.

Parents should also teach children to keep an open mind and heart and gives them the ability to accept people no matter who and what they are. Even though the world is suffused with violent rhetoric and hate speeches, parents should frame a child's mind in the light of hope so that the void of pessimism doesn't fill in their mind and control their actions.
