Vine Shutting Down: Vine Stars Proposal To Save The App

After a few years or so, Vine, a site where you can share or view 6-second videos, will be closed down. It was just last Thursday since Twitter announced the closure of the said app as reported in Recode and the company is now planning to focus its attention back to its core business, but before that, they are still giving time to the users to download their videos.

According to Inquirer, it has been hard for Vine these past few years since there has been a decline in their markets. One of the reasons is the competition with other apps like Snapchat, Youtube and Instagram. In 2013, Instagram added video uploads on its feature and until today Snapchat is still gaining popularity causing the users to switch to these apps rather than stay in Vine.

There was a 55 percent drop in downloads of the app last year in both Google Play and Apple App Store. Vine used to be the most downloadable app in 2012 on iTunes App Store and has more than 200 million active users.

So when the Vine Stars noticed the decline weeks ago than the announcement, 20 out of 50 of them had a meeting at 1600 Vine Street in Los Angeles in order to create a plan to save the app. They met with Vine's Creative Development Lead, Karyn Spencer and presented their proposal that Vine should pay them, Vine Stars, $1.2 million each to apply several product changes and allow more communication between the company and the users. Everyone present in the meeting had agreed to make original videos for the app uploaded every month or upload three videos per week, the Business Insider reported.

Unfortunately, a deal was not made between the two parties. So the effort of the viners to save the app was for naught but before they have decided to have the meeting, most of the top users have already shifted to other platforms like Instagram, Snapchat and Youtube.
