"Edge of Tomorrow 2" has been hyped about ever since its existence has emerged in the movie industry. Movie goers began to wonder if the movie will be a sequel or a prequel. Here is what the "Edge of Tomorrow 2" director has to say.
Doug Liman disclosed that "Edge of Tomorrow 2" will be both a sequel and a prequel. In an interview with Collider, the director said that the "Edge of Tomorrow 2" will also highlight what has transpired before the 2014 "Edge of Tomorrow" movie.
"That is the only sequel that I'm considering doing. It's because first of all the story is so amazing--much better than the original film, and I loved and loved the original film--and second of all, it's a sequel that's a prequel," he said. Then, he said to IGN that "Edge of Tomorrow 2" has a concept that would apparently "revolutionize" the way people make sequels.
Writers Anna Waterhouse and Joe Shrapnel, who also wrote the movie "Race," are now working on the script of "Edge of Tomorrow 2." Original screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie previously disclosed about the idea of a sequel, in which actor Tom Cruise initiated an idea about its storyline.
"Edge of Tomorrow was so hard and was so draining," he said. "When we went out to dinner when we were making Mission and Tom said, 'I have an idea for the sequel to Edge,' and I said, 'I don't want to f***ing hear it. I do not want to know!' And he pitched the idea to me and he finished pitching it, I was like, 'Why did you do that?'"
"Edge of Tomorrow 2" will bring back Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt once again, but the events in the movie are still kept under wraps. However, it is already confirmed that "Edge of Tomorrow 2" is already in development so it is only a matter of time before a trailer is presented.
"Edge of Tomorrow" was a blockbuster hit, able to gather $370 million from worldwide sales. The second installment is also expected to perform well. Watch the trailer below.
