IGN compiled 10 of gaming history's scariest games from all platforms. Bravery is no question when it comes to video games, well, not until the player's experience is tainted by several jump scares, creepy environments together with the out of this world ghost, monsters and entities designed to measure the threshold of human bravery.
Number 10 on the list is "DEAD SPACE" is basically what the title describes it to be, dead people in space station turning into "Necromorphs" that the player needs to eliminate. Number 9 is "Enemy Zero" wherein the player is left to explore a starship with no weapon at hand and an audio-based sonar device equipped.
On number 8 comes 2013's "Outlast," which is staged in a psychiatric hospital, and like "Enemy Zero," this game is also under the survival game genre. The game on number 7 spot is called "DAY Z," which is about the post-apocalyptic zombie-infested Earth, the game is cleverly designed to make the player watch out not only for zombies but for other humans as well.
The featured game on the number 6 spot is called "Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly," this game is staged in several abandoned traditional village wherein the player's character is only armed with a Camera Obscura that is used to fend off the ghosts by taking pictures. The game on the number 5 spot is called "Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem," this game is a mix of both fiction and reality designed not only to scare the player but to play with his sanity as well.
"Resident Evil HD" sits on the number 4 spot in this list, the classic horror game which started the zombie culture was made even more terrifying when played on HD. Featured on the number 3 spot is "Silent Hills: P.T." a game made possible with the collaboration of legendary director Guillermo Del Toro and "Metal Gear" creator Hideo Kojima, this game was like a demo that came out of nowhere and was offered for a limited time only.
The game on number 2 is a combination horror and puzzle game staged in an eerie environment. "Amnesia: The Dark Descent" features jump scares and scenarios designed to disturb the human psyche.
Finally, the number 1 spot goes to "Silent Hill 2." Now, this game is a combination of almost all the games on this list and was really designed to scare the living daylights out of a player.
