The news of Louis Tomlinson fathering a child with Briana Jungwirth has brought forth the support of legions of fans and followers of the One Direction singer. However, one particular fan of Tomlinson is way more eager to take part in this new chapter of his life - his dad, Troy. Seeking to take the opportunity to make amends by being an outstanding grandparent to Tomlinson's future child, the 1D's estranged father voiced out his desires in an interview with Mirror UK.
"I'd like to be involved in my grandchild's life," Troy shared. He added, "I've missed out on Louis' life and I'd like to make up for that." While fans of the 1D member will be privy to this fact, not everyone is aware that Tomlinson and his dad have not spoken for roughly three years now. Although have never been particularly close due to the fact that Troy split with Tomlinson's mother when the singer was only 5 years old, their relationship became irreparable following an argument over the phone.
To add to the strain in the father-son dynamic, the two lived in separate parts of the United Kingdom - thereby making physical contact quite challenging. Nonetheless, Troy is determined to correct the mistakes he committed in the past in terms of raising Tomlinson by playing a more active role in the life of his future grandchild. The 46-year-old shared, "It's definitely time to heal the rift. Life is too short."
Meanwhile, Jungwirth's father, Joe, is still reeling with the baby news. Describing the announcement as "unplanned" and a "shock" to the family, the 56-year-old grandfather to be appears to be doing his best to cope with the situation, according to Daily Mail. He shared, "It's the first kid in our family. This will be the first grandkid." He then added, "We're excited about it, Briana is doing great I guess."
"It's a bit of a shock, you know, they're kids, stuff happens, but I'm supporting her," Joe stated. He then went on to say, "I love her to death and it's all good." He added, "We love her and support her, we're behind her, that's all I can tell you." While Jungwirth's dad appears to be supportive of the baby, her stepmother admitted to being anxious of how the situation will affect the young stylist's life. "This is really scary for someone in her condition, especially when she's only 23, I think it's pretty overwhelming," she shared, according to a separate Mirror UK report.
