Hi! Ho! Hi! Ho! Disney's off to work with another live-action movie of a beloved classic. This time around, "Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs" is getting the live-action musical movie treatment.
"Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs" is Disney's first-ever animated film released in 1937. During the eleventh Academy Awards, "Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs" won an honorary Oscar and was selected by the United States Library of Congress for preservation in the National Film Registry.
According to THR, the live-action adaptation of 'Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs' will expand on the original story. "Girl On Train" screenwriter Erin Cressida Wilson is in talks to write the screenplay. "La La Land" composers Benji Pasek and Justin Paul are developing and writing new songs for the upcoming live-action version of "Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs". Mark Platt will be the executive producer for the film, who will also be an executive producer for the remake of "Mary Poppins".
This is not the first movie that adapted the story of "Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs". Films like "Mirror, Mirror" starring Lily Collins and Julia Roberts and "Snow White And The Huntsman" starring Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth told different versions of "Snow White".
Disney is adding the "Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs" live-action movie to a slew of successful adaptations of classic Disney films like "Maleficent", "Cinderella" and "The Jungle Book". A modern retelling of "Oliver Twist" and "Mary Poppins" are also in development.
The next live-action adaptation of a Disney classic is "Beauty And The Beast". "Beauty And The Beast" stars Emma Watson as Belle, Dan Stevens as Beast and Luke Evans as Gaston. Disney's "Beauty And The Beast" will be in theaters this coming March 2017.
