A former teen horror blogger appeared in a new interview behind bars and she said that she is happier and freer now that she is jailed. She pleaded guilty to killing her mother and stepfather, whom she claimed abused her.
The teenager, Ashlee Martinson, now 19, said during her interview with "Crime Watch" that she is happy now because she is getting help. The interview of Martinson aired on Tuesday.
Martinson stabbed her mother to death and fatally shot her stepfather in March of 2015. She was sentenced to 23 years behind bars and 17 more years for extended supervision, New York Daily News reported.
The stepfather of Martinson, identified as Thomas Ayers, reportedly physically, mentally, and verbally abused her for years. This was said to be the reason behind Martinson committing homicide.
Martinson continued to say in the interview that people call her a monster but if people met Ayers, they would know who he was and what he really was. If they knew what Ayers' attitudes were, Martinson said that people will be able to say that Ayers is the monster and not her, People reported.
Martinson wrote entries on her blog before the killings commenced. She said that the excerpts from her writings had nothing to do with the killings. Martinson claimed that the day that she killed her mother and stepfather, she blacked out. She noted that the moment she saw her stepfather, she reacted suddenly by raising the gun and pulling the trigger.
The former horror blogger added that she did not realize that she killed Ayers because everything happened so fast. She also reportedly had the feeling of worry over her and her young sisters getting killed by Ayers if she did not do anything. In the interview, Martinson said that she can now say that she and her sisters are safe every time she wakes up.
