‘Pokémon GO’ Update: Thanksgiving Event Confirmed? Abundance Of Spearows, SlowPokés, Slowbros, Ponytas & More Spawns Teased

The "Pokémon GO" Halloween event is now over and it appears like players won't have to wait until Christmas for a second event to take place. Recent reports are claiming that Niantic is preparing a Thanksgiving event for "Pokémon GO" players.

Niantic's international events -- previously seen in the augmented reality game "Ingress" -- often occur during Halloween, Christmas, and April Fool's. "Pokémon GO," however, is vastly different from "Ingress."

The "Pokémon GO" Thanksgiving event would probably mirror Halloween's. Certain Pokémon types would appear in the wild more frequently and players would get more Candies from walking their Buddy Pokémon. An easier walking distance requirement for the Buddy Pokémon feature is also expected, Slash Gear reported from a source.

Eight Pokémon spawns are said to pop up more than usual before, after, and during Thanksgiving thanks to the second international "Pokémon GO" event. Those Pokémon are Spearow, Fearow, Psyduck, Golduck, SlowPoke, Slowbro, Ponyta, and Rapidash.

A new post shared on Niantic's "Pokémon GO" Facebook page also hinted that the requirements for Buddy Pokémon would change. The game developer asked: "Which Pokémon are you sweet on? How much Candy do you have for that Pokémon?" Slash Gear speculated that the Halloween event jumpstarted a possible permanent change in regards to the Buddy Pokémon walking requirements.

Slash Gear's source also claimed that more Pokémon types are being considered for increased spawn rates. The source added that the "Pokémon GO" Thanksgiving event would highlight walking as a form of exercise after the holiday, too.

Niantic's "Pokémon GO" Thanksgiving event would likely focus on the United States. But given the different dates of Thanksgiving events across the world, it's possible that the event would get extended to accommodate players from other countries.

The "Pokémon GO" Thanksgiving event would probably happen before or after November 24. Niantic could begin the event on the exact day of Thanksgiving (a Thursday) and let it play out until Sunday. This way, "Pokémon GO" players heading home for the holiday during the long weekend would be accommodated.

In other news, Niantic recently announced an upcoming "Pokémon GO" update that will give daily bonuses to ensure that players will visit the game every day. These bonuses require players to perform specific tasks such as catching a Pokémon or visiting a PokéStop. The rewards include Stardust, XP, and additional items, GameSpot listed.
