Over the years, Marvel and Netflix have always done street-style superhero series hand in hand. Netflix's new miniseries "The Defenders" is taking form with a concept similar to "The Avengers." Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Jessica Jones will form the Marvel's seventies classic.
The official announcement reveals the actors who will portray the superhero roles. But the first official Defenders are Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, Finn Jones as Danny Rand, and Mike Colter as Luke Cage.
The show's Facebook page announced Rachel Taylor to play the role of Trish Walker. Many of the actors were from solo superhero series like Carrie-Anne Moss who played Jeri Hogarth in Jessica Jones and Scott Glenn who played Sticks from Daredevil. Rosario Dawson, who is considerably a regular in superhero sequels and movies has been confirmed as well.
The confirmation of the superhero sidekicks and supporting characters shortly followed. Bringing familiar names, Deborah Ann Woll role as Karen Page and Simone Missick as Misty Knight. There are more returning characters from their respective solo series to join forces.
MCU Exchange reported that Elden Henson who plays Foggy Nelson in the Daredevil series has just confirmed his appearance in the miniseries along with Eka Darville (Malcolm in Jessica Jones.)
The "Alien" veteran actress Sigourney Weaver will also be part of the series. She will play as an evil villain, although Marvel Cinematic Universe hasn't disclosed yet which villain she'll portray. The production is not even halfway announcing the entire casting, and so as the filming.
Screen Rant have reported a week ago that the series will only have episodes instead of the original thirteen. No further information as to why the contract changed but what's important is we have a new action-packed television series to enjoy. "The Defenders" will premiere in March 2017.
