Disney Box Office Giant Breaks Record With 'Deadpool,' 'Zootopia,' And More

Usual trend of summer movies more likely to be box office hits is not anymore the case now. Although five of the winning movies are summer releases, the other five are not. However, it's still a Disney season.

The Disney phenomenon does not seem to follow the belief that summer is the ultimate time in which movies can hit the box office. "Deadpool" and "Zootopia" were released by "Disney" as early as February, according to Variety.

The year is not even finished yet but "Finding Dory", "Captain America: Civil War" and the popular "Zootopia" are already leading the Box office charts. That's $5.85 of movies globally alone. They garnered $5.84 billion in 2015 and now surpasses own record.

Aside from those dollar earning movies, the just got released movie, "Doctor Strange," the promising "Moana" and the movie that was shown earlier on way ahead of the two, "Star Wars: Rogue One" are keeping the money machines busy.

Universal hit the all-time high industry revenues in 2015 for $6.89 billion "Furious 7" and "Jurassic World" made that possible. However, Disney can manage to do even better than that this year.

The "Star Wars" saga, classic Marvel movie featuring the original return of "Batman," and the "Sonic The Hedgehog" animation brilliance are additional revenue sources for Disney, says Cinema Blend.

Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn is grateful to Lucasfilm, Marvel, Pixar, Disney Animation and Disney itself for contributing to the success of the company for two years in a row.

Innovative ideas put Disney in a category that is noted only for quality global filmmakers. Disney chief Bob Iger's golden touch is also evident in his efforts to acquire ownership in Pixar, Lucasfilm and Marvel that exposes them to premier creators of animations.

Despite the tremendous success of Disney this year, it is not spared to experience a flop with "Alice Through the Looking Glass," which only managed, to sum up, a gross revenue of $299.3 million for a high budget of $170 million. The losses on "The Finest Hours" and another failure "The BFG" are also something that they have to bear.
