Here's a treat for all Square Enix and Disney fans.
Stories about the highly anticipated game "Kingdom Hearts 3" have been circulating. More than a decade since its debut, the game has made a lot of fans all around the world.
"Kingdom Hearts" is a role playing game made by Square Enix (known for the highly acclaimed "Final Fantasy" series) and Disney Interactive Studios. It revolves around the story of a young boy named Sora, who goes with Disney characters like Donald and Goofy, in fighting the "Heartless," principal antagonists in the game's world.
"Final Fantasy" gamers need not be alienated from this as older versions included all-time favorite iconic characters like FF7's Cloud Strife and the famous one-winged angel, Sephiroth. Sora's weapon, the "keyblade," may even remind gamers of FF8's Squall Leonhart's "Gunblade."
"Kingdom Hearts" is a game that takes gamers on a walk to memory lane (with beloved Disney characters), while opening up a new world for them to discover -- and play with.
The much-awaited "Kingdom Hearts 3" will be the eighth installment of the "Kingdom Hearts" franchise.
Last month, a trailer for the game was shown at E3. The trailer featured the new and improved Sora, and also showed an area in the game that looks vaguely inspired by the Disney movie, "Tangled", according to a report from Ecumenical News.
Director Tetsuya Nomura also reveals that fans can certainly expect new characters to join in. It seems quite promising.
"Previously, I was dealing with classic works. This time, I have adopted a relatively new work. It's so I can directly see the people who have been involved in that series. There are many times we have exchanged words while producing it so it can be represented more accurately," says Nomura.
And then there's another story: Marvel and Star Wars fans can jump in the fray.
According to a report from Movie Pilot, a poll has been ongoing asking for the general public's opinion whether to include George Lucas' "Star Wars" characters, or familiar superheroes from Stan Lee's Marvel universe,
And that isn't far from reality as Disney, who is working in tandem with Square Enix, also owns both Marvel and Star War franchises.
While the new characters are still unknown, the wild idea that Sora fights the heartless, rescues Rapunzel -- all the while being accompanied by the little Jedi master Yoda and the smashing green Hulk -- still sounds fun for fans.
The release date for "Kingdom Hearts 3" is still to be announced.
