After Nerlens Noel expressed that he wants to be traded because of the log on the center positions of Philadelphia 76ers, Toronto Raptors is said to be eyeing him and expressed their interest in the player. Other players being linked to the team are Greg Monroe or Zach Randolph.
Basketball Real GM reported that Nerlens Noel will be a restricted free agent during the 2017 offseason. Toronto Raptors lost many players during the 2016 offseason before the 2016-2017 NBA Season officially started. Jared Sullinger is not able to play for Toronto Raptors due to a foot injury while Bismack Biyombo left the team via free agency. Accordingly, Toronto Raptors believe that Nerlens Noel could fill in the void that Bismack Biyombo left.
However, Liberty Ballers reported that Nerlens Noel recently underwent an elective surgery on his left knee. He is expected to be out for around two to three weeks and many believe that Toronto Raptors might use that time to evaluate if their younger players, Pascal Siakam and Jakob Poeltl, will be able to play well for the team despite not having other big men around. Toronto Raptors might be announcing by Thanksgiving if they will really push through with the trade.
This is not the first time that Toronto Raptors was linked to Nerlens Noel. Back in June, the NBA team was one of the teams mentioned to be interested in Nerlens Noel and that they have tried to reach a deal with Philadelphia 76ers. Accordingly, they tried to trade their small forward Terrence Ross for Nerlens Noel. Terrence Ross still has two years left on his deal, which is worth $21 million.
The other players linked to Toronto Raptors now are Milwaukee Bucks' Greg Monroe or Memphis Grizzlies' Zach Randolph. They are also reportedly being eyed by Toronto Raptors to fill the spot of Bismack Biyombo.
Other players that Toronto Raptors can work with are their shooting guard Norman Powell and point guard Delon Wright.
