iPhones are always assumed to be more secured over Android phones as people prefer iOS better as an operating system. However, Android is sometimes misunderstood when it comes to security. Over the past years, both iOS and Android operating systems had several cyberattacks. And that does not conclude iOS is more secure than Android.
According to Tech Radar, a security researcher at Tripwire, Craig Young, said, "The consolidation of personal data on smartphones has made them a natural target for malware campaigns. While trusted app stores do a lot to reduce exposure to malware, examples of apps slipping past vendor review processes are not hard to come by."
Although people believe iOS is more secure than Android, the director of security at Android, Adrian Ludwig does not agree to it. At a security conference in Manhattan on Nov. 1, Ludwig stated that Google Pixel running on Android 7.1 Nougat is equal to iPhones in terms of security. He said, "For almost all threat models, they are nearly identical of their platform-level capabilities."
Ludwig believes in the long run Android 7.1 Nougat will be better than iOS, although he did not specify any reason for his strong belief. It may be because Android allows for more people to identify the security problems.
At the O'Reilly Security Conference, Ludwig spoke about Safety Net, which is a built-in security software in Android. 'Safety Net' is an app capable of scanning over 6 billion apps and approximately 400 million devices each day.
Ludwig showed a graph that depicted Potentially Harmful Applications only affect about one percent of Android devices. He stressed saying Android is very secure and it is impossible for anyone to target multiple people at the same time on this platform.
To conclude Android 7.1 Nougat in Google Pixel is equally secure as iPhone 7's iOS 10. Comment below your views.
