The fun and crazy family of the Simpsons is prepared to become the longest running television show on the planet after Fox Network renewed the cartoon show for another 2 seasons. Season 29 to 30 is set to be aired sometime around 2017-2019 and is reported to reach 669 episodes surpassing the previous record for a television series that was set by Gunsmoke at 635, via Independent.
The Simpsons, a dysfunctional family became a phenomenal TV hit for Fox Network since its first debut in late 1989. Homer Simpson, with his wife Marge, daughters Lisa and Maggie and only son Bart, was a popular adult-oriented animation in the 90's and was one of the successful shows of all time.
The management of Fox Network has congratulated everyone who've worked behind one of the best and successful series in the history of the medium and thanked all the millions of fans worldwide for watching the shows throughout these years. The chairmen and CEOs of the network have said there is a lot more to come, according to NME.
The network announced last November 4, 2016, that the animated sitcom will be returning for a 29th and 30th season while the current season 28th is now midway through. The network also added that 'The Simpsons' meant so much to the broadcasting company with its continued impact and around the world is an evidence of the brilliance of its creators. They stated that the network is also planning a possible second movie in the future.
For being a worldwide hit for decades, the series was given a self-titled movie last July 2007 which also became a successful blockbuster and grossed millions of dollars. There were speculations that the TV hit will not stop either at season 30. But despite all these triumphs and milestones, critics sees a decline in quality of the show over the years.
