Social is media is rife with speculation that the much-followed character of Adam Newman will be returning to the "Young and the Restless", a popular soap from CBS network. Question is : will Justin Hartley be returning as Adam Newman, or will it actor Michael Muhney be reprising his old role?
According to Inquisitr, rumors were fostered by Muhney's tweets that more happiness is going on with him besides the Cubs' winning the World Series. This is in addition to a soap magazine feature on Muhney as "The Young & The Restless' Michael Muhney Shares His Trip to Chicago to Root For the Cubs in the World Series - See His Amazing Pics!" This article however, did not confirm if he will indeed be coming back as Adam Newman.
Muhney played Adam Newman, a mercurial character dealing with personal demons and other complex problems. He tries to break free from the shadow cast by his father, Viktor, and strives to be more like his late mother, Hope. Muhney's portrayal of Adam gave the character more dimension and depth. Unfortunately, he was let go from the series in 2013 over a controversy involving a fellow actor.
While fans were heartbroken, Muhney was said to have maintained a good working relationship with the network despite the issue. Adam's character was taken over by Justin Hartley, who also did a convincing job until Adam's character was presumed dead. Hartley had to leave the role to join another series, "This is Us".
However, Itechpost.com revealed that Adam's character "might be back on the CBS daytime soap for a quick appearance during the February sweep." This is the time when the Nielsen Ratings Sweepstake place. "Adam's reappearance would add more excitement to the current storyline given the rough patch that the Newmans are going through," the article read.
Reports say that while Hartley may be busy with his new soap at NBC, it is not impossible for him to squeeze in a few days to film Adam's return. On the other hand, fans are rooting for Muhney, whom they feel was unceremoniously removed from the series.
