Windows Password Manager LastPass Free For Mac OS X, Android As Good Password Habits Should Be Norm, Says CEO

Windows password manager LastPass has been made available for free not only for Windows but also for Mac OS X and Android. This provided users with multiple devices the ability to manage their account logins as well as sync all of their gadgets that run Mac OS X, Windows, or Android.

Before this announcement, the only premium version of Windows password manager LastPass has the option for support across several Windows and non-Windows devices. LastPass Premium is a paid-for service that comes with encrypted cloud storage as well as family password sharing. Another good news is that this cross-platform service can be immediately accessed by all new users, while all current premium subscribers will not be affected by any of these changes.

With this bold and strategic move from the makers of the popular Windows password manager, LastPass CEO Joe Siegrist emphasized that by giving the service away for free for all devices, they are enabling its users to develop good password habits. Further to this, Siegrist explains that they hope this move would also help establish consumer expectations for an amazing password management experience, which will help create a new norm in storing passwords.

Prior to this, the LastPass team has reportedly experienced security threats during the previous year, with attackers successfully breaching the password manager's network. According to Tech Radar, the hackers were able to steal password reminders as well as account email address. Because of this, Windows password manager LastPass users were advised to update master passwords, but the team immediately reassured that the attackers were not able to compromise the password vault and that the login credentials remained protected.

This is definitely an early Christmas treat for the userbase of Windows password manager LastPass as, previously, this service is limited for PC users only. Now, users can just easily install the app and all logins are magically synced across all devices.
