A baby girl born to a family in South Carolina has presented an unusual birthmark that four generations of women have in her family. This patch of naturally white hair makes them all appear like Cruella de Vil, the popular Disney cartoon villain, yet the family doesn't know the origin of the birthmark.
Brianna Worthy, 23, has this white streak of hair on her forehead that's a lot like Cruella de Vil's. Her baby daughter MilliAnna, 18 months, also have the same birthmark when she was born. The white patch also appears on the forehead of MilliAnna's grandmother, Jennifer, 41 and great grandmother, Joanne, 59.
"We definitely get stopped a lot while out and about on our daily routine," Brianna Worthy told Daily Mail about their naturally white patch. She admitted that the unusual birthmark used to bother her as a young child, but she has come to realize that this is her family's "unique signature."
What's even more interesting is that not all women in Brianna Worthy's family have the Cruella De Vil white streak. The sister who was born after her didn't have it and Brianna Worthy thought MilliAna wouldn't have it, too.
The family can only trace the unusual birthmark back to Joanne. Unfortunately, she did not know her biological parents since the great grandmother was adopted as a baby, Mirror reports.
Barring any explanation about their family's history, the said condition is medically and scientifically known as poliosis, according to the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. It indicates an absence of melanin, which should be present in body areas where hair grows -- such as the head, the eyebrows or the skin. Its cause varies and it's only a topical condition, which means it doesn't develop into a serious health threat.
In Brianna Worthy's family, however, poliosis exist on the same part of the head. Hence, it's been a point of interest for the family for years. Learn more about the baby and her family's unusual birthmark in the video below.
