Drake takes it to the mic to give his rebuttal and shut down "ghostwriter" allegations.
The Canadian rapper and songwriter aired his new set of bars titled "Charged Up" during his OVO Sound Radio Show on Beats 1 yesterday. The track was released after Philadelphia Hip Hop artist Meek Mill accused Drake of not writing his own songs.
The song seems to be a fitting reply from the self-dubbed "6 God" who flavored the rap with references to hearsays and rumors.
"I did some charity today for the kids," the rap started. "But I'm used to it 'cause all y'all charity cases. All y'all stare in my face and hoped you could be the replacement. N***as is snitchin' on us without no interrogation.
"I stay silent, 'cause we at war and I'm very patient. 6 God is watchin', I just hope you're prepared to face him, I'm charged up, I'm charged up." Drake continued in the rap.
Further in the rap, Drake continues "Trust me, this information is vital. I'm trying to take the high road. I still got love for my idols. I got me a deal with Apple and I still feel entitled (in Tidal).
"Rumor has it there's something only that I know. Rumor has it I steer this ship with my eyes closed. Rumor has it I either f***ed her, or never could. But "rumor has it" hasn't done you n***as any good."
Earlier this week, Mill tweeted "Stop comparing drake to me too.... He don't write his own raps! That's why he ain't tweet my album because we found out!"
According to Hot New Hip Hop, Mill made the announcement after accusing Drake of not writing his own verse in their collaboration titled "R.I.C.O." He pointed out that Quentin Miller, mentioned in the credits of the said colab, serves as Drake's ghostwriter. Drake remained silent in the issue, until the premiere of his new track.
Quentin Miller, however, has already debunked Mill's claims against Drake. In a letter he posted on Tumblr, Miller said that "When nobody would pay attention, drake saw something in me and reached out... Of all people... drizzy.."
He furthered that "I am not and never will be a "ghostwriter" for drake.. Im proud to say that we've collaborated.. but i could never take credit for anything other than the few songs we worked on together.."
Upon the release of Drake's track, Miller still did not stop and jibed with a tweet, saying he is sure that Drake is the one who wrote that song.
Drake's "Charged Up" song is currently in the top of Real Time Billboard Twitter Last 24 Hours chart.
