There's a new social media craze, dubbed as mannequin challenge, which has captured the hearts of many people, and even celebrities have now participated in. Clips of mannequin challenge performed by various groups and individuals have recently hit the airwaves. Interestingly, more celebrities are getting hooked with the craze too.
The mannequin challenge sounds simple but is technically difficult to do. Basically, participants in the mannequin challenge just need to think of a pose to strike when the camera began rolling. Any gesture can be done, from simple, wacky, discrete or loud expressions while trying to project a storyline.
The challenge was fairly new as the first clip with the mannequin challenge hashtag came out on Oct. 26 and was done by some students in their classroom. The students from Edward H. White High School in Jacksonville, Florida posted a 45-second-video showing teens striking a pose like statues, some were standing on the table while others stood around. The students can be seen frozen in their chosen pose, as the camera zooms in, focusing on each model.
The mannequin challenge gets more entertaining when more people are involved. Various clips from the military, schools and communities have surfaced, showing their own creations of the mannequin challenge.
The mannequin challenge has gone more viral especially when famous personalities began to hop on board too. The New York Giants have also joined in the craze, where all its players and even coaches have displayed some mannequin poses. Pittsburgh Steelers have also taken the mannequin challenge, as well as the Milwaukee Bucks.
The HollywoodLife posted the mannequin challenge of "Dancing With The Stars" cast and crew. The clip is especially different as they have also included a flash mob after being frozen for quite some time.
Adding more sparkle to the popularity of the mannequin challenge is the version from "Destiny's Child" Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland and Vanessa Williams. The three popular singers took some fun time to do the mannequin challenge when they reunited at the birthday party of Rowland's son, Titan.
