Xiaomi, a major player in the Chinese mobile phone market, recently announced the launch of three new models to its mobile phone offerings: Redmi 4A, Redmi 4 Standard Edition, Redmi 4 Pro Edition and is slated for November launch. But, currently, Xiaomi's market is limited to the United States for testing.
With the new Xiaomi Redmi 4 lineup of smartphones, the company seeks to establish once again its influence on the budget phone market against major competitors like Huawei.
Looking at the Xiaomi Redmi 4A for starters, it features a 5-inch display capable of a 1280 x 720 resolution with a 5 MP selfie sensor up front and a 13MP camera around back. A quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chipset and 2GB RAM powers Xiaomi Redmi 4A and is equipped with 16GB of storage expandable by up to an additional 128GB via a MicroSD card slot. Finally, a respectable 3,120mAh battery should keep the Xiaomi Redmi 4A ticking for an all-day affair.
The Xiaomi Redmi 4 is split into two models, specifically the Redmi 4 Standard Edition and Redmi 4 Pro Edition. The Redmi 4 Standard Edition for the most part is a carbon copy of the Redmi 4A with some key differences. For example, the Redmi 4 Standard Edition comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset and a beefy 4,100mAh power pack.
Finally, the Redmi 4 Pro Edition lives up to its moniker by opting for a 5-inch display capable of an impressive 1920 x 1080 resolution. That's full HD on a 5-inch screen. The Redmi 4 Pro Edition is also powered by Qualcomm's octa-core Snapdragon 625 chipset, the same processor that powers the Motorola Moto Z Play, and 3GB RAM. The 32GB of storage is built in, compared to 16GB found on the other two models. A MicroSD card slot is there, however, if your needs are greater. Everything else is similar to the Redmi 4 Standard Edition.
Prices are attractive to the intended budget crowd with the Redmi 4A going for $70, the Redmi 4 Standard Edition for $104, and the Redmi 4 Pro Edition a mere $133.
