Michael Kelly, who plays as the Doug Stamper in the Netflix Original "House of Cards" series, is speculated to be leaving in the show's upcoming Season 5. In a recent interview, Kelly seemed to be very emotional when asked as to who would be leaving the show next season.
According to Deadline, Kelly was quoted ambiguously saying that "you lose characters that you love." In "House of Cards," Stamper is President Underwood's White House Chief of Staff. In Season 4, he has shown his unquestionable loyalty to the president. A failed attempt at President Underwood's life resulted in serious liver injuries, which required a liver transplant. Stamper offered his own liver in order to save the president.
Meanwhile, other important characters are also rumored to be killed off from the show as well. Perhaps the most shocking speculation is that President Underwood, played by Kevin Spacey, might die in the upcoming Season 5. He almost died in the past seasons, and in previous interviews, Kelly hinted that this is inevitable eventually.
A major player in "House of Cards", Claire Underwood is also on the list of possible characters who might leave in Season 5. Claire is President Underwood's wife and First Lady and is played by actress Robin Wright. According to Kelly's interview with Sportsrageous, Claire Underwood is also one of the possible bets to die in Season 5, for she has made some big accusations in the previous seasons and is likely to be a target.
On a different note, the actress was also adamant in her demand of having equal pay as Spacey. According to Refinery29 last May, Wright has threatened Netflix that she will leave the show and will go public if her demands were not met. Reportedly, Netflix has given in to her demands, considering that she is also a producer and also served as director for seven episodes of the show.
