MMA News: Ex-champ Ronda Rousey's Downfall And Frustrations Lead To Her Early Retirement

Former UFC champion Ronda Rousey is busy preparing for her upcoming fight against Amanda Nunes this December after a year-long absence since losing her championship belt to Holly Holm. Her defeat was the first and only loss of her career after a 12-win streak.

According to the Rolling Stones, Rousey announced that the match with Nunes in December would probably be "one of her last fights" inside the octagon before walking away from the sport. Rousey made the announcement during her recent appearance on Ellen.

Rousey is one of the best MMA fighters in the world, and critics believe that her comeback fight against Nunes is definitely crucial for her entire UFC career. A convincing win will be viewed as a redemption, while losing the match will put her career in question. Fans and detractors could only wonder if she can still return to her old form.

Many believed that Rousey was not dedicated and focused on her training in her previous loss to Holm. She was touted as being busy acting like a celebrity and for spreading herself too thinly. However, Rousey's former manager Darin Harvey questioned the lack of support given to her when she faced her first ever defeat. According to the New York Post, Harvey said that it felt like no one protected her during her time of frustration.

Meanwhile, UFC commentator Joe Rogan stated in a recent interview that there are a lot of reasons to be worried about with regard to Rousey's comeback fight against Nunes. According to Maxim, Rogan said that if Ronda is not fully focused on her upcoming fight, she will be totally destroyed by Nunes and taste another defeat. For Rogan, it seems that Rousey is more focused on planning for her remaining fights and her retirement which is the opposite of what is going on with Nunes's uphill career.

Rousey will try to regain her winning streak on Dec. 30, 2016, at the UFC 207 main event. Many are still excited to see her return as this might be one of her last fights in the octagon. What do you think of the upcoming fight? Will Rousey retire like a true champ, or will she end up more devastated as ever?
