Will Smith News: 'Suicide Squad's' Father Passed Away; Ex-Wife Sheree Fletcher Shares A Tribute On Instagram

Will Smith's father, Willard Carroll Smith, has recently passed away. The news was first shared by her ex-wife Sheree Fletcher on her Instagram account.

Fletcher shared a photo on Instagram that shows Will Smith together with his father and their son Trey. The photo includes a caption which is filled with praises and admiration for Smith's father.

In the post, Fletcher shares how Smith's father was the kind of man that lived by his own rules. She adds that he had lived his life with discipline and a good work ethic. For Fletcher, Smith's father was one of a kind and has left a legacy of his own.

Smith's father has played a significant role in the superstar's life and his rise to stardom. According to Reader's Digest, before Smith became the actor we know now, he wanted to be a rapper. Smith's mother was set on having the actor go to college but his father supported him in making music and surprisingly enough Smith became the first rap artist to receive a Grammy award.

Smith's father has also inspired the actor in taking good care of his own family. Smith once told People that he looks up to his father for making time for him and his three siblings while finding ways to provide for them at the same time. This propelled the actor to be an involved dad just like his father.

Smith's father was a refrigerator engineer in West Philadelphia. He had four children with Caroline Bright. However, they were divorced in 2000.

Smith's ex-wife may have shared her feelings about the passing of Willard but Will Smith has not yet given any public statement or comment on the matter. Fletcher and Smith were married for three years from 1992 to 1995. They have a son named Trey who is currently 23 years old.
