After a stellar box office release, speculation now surrounds "Ant-Man" and its supposed relation to other Marvel films like "Captain America: Civil War" and "Avengers: Infinity Wars Part 1."
According to director Peyton Reed, who spoke to Screen Junkies (via Screen Gonzo), there is a big possibility well be seeing Giant Man on the silver screen. When asked if/when Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) or Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) would grow into the Giant Man form, he responds saying: "Listen, I think with Hank Pym and Scott Lang, and with that technology, I think it's safe to say at some point somewhere you're going to see some real GROWTH [looks at camera] for that character."
He continued to say, "I hedge my bet there, because it could be sort of growth as a human being, emotional growth, or literal giant growth. There's a good chance of that."
Sequel To Feature The Wasp?
Evangeline Lilly who stared alongside Rudd and Douglas may be another character addition in future Marvel films. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige was quoted by Zap2It.
In the film's post-credit scenes, Lilly's Wasp costume was introduced and Feige revealed that Marvel is looking to give the character justice and explore its inclusion in an "Ant-Man" sequel or Phase 3 films.
"We thought it would be a disservice to the Wasp to just have her show up - 'Hello, I'm wearing the costume now! Goodbye!' When we do it, which we're going to, it needs to be done really well," quoted the publication of Feige.
According to Variety, Lilly couldn't spill too much about the franchise's future but did say, "All I know is that I had to sign up for three films, as does anybody," said Evangeline and added, "I hope they use me for two more."
Reed had more to say about Lilly's character and shared, "Her arc in the movie is every bit as important as Ant-Man's," Reed said. "She's a very powerful hero in her own right."
"Ant-Man" has generated so much excitement that new films "Southpaw" and "Pixels," which debuted in theaters this weekend wasn't able to topple the Marvel film off the top spot. The Wall Street Journal reported that the film's two week total stands at $106 million.
"Ant-Man" hit theaters July 17 and the title role was held by Paul Rudd.
