Following the death of Bobbi Kristina Brown last Sunday, her father and the ex-husband of Whitney Houston, Bobby Brown, released his official statement.
In the R&B singer's released statement via CBS News, he admitted that he was feeling "numb" about what happened and described her first-born child as an angel.
"Krissy was and is an angel. I am completely numb at this time. My family must find a way to live with her in spirit and honor her memory. Our loss is unimaginable," the music artist said, according to CBS. "We thank everyone for the prayers for Krissy and our family as we mourn my baby girl."
The sad turn of events comes as Bobby recently celebrated the birth of his new baby daughter, Bodhi Jameson Rein, with wife Alicia Etheredge. Sadly, Bobbi Kristina never got to see her half-sister as she had been in a coma for the last five months before finally dying peacefully on July 26.
A few weeks before her death, Bobby Brown had been unable to perform properly during a Fourth of July celebration, as reported by Parent Herald. The singer kept forgetting the lyrics and had to apologize to the crowd. While he didn't mention that he was distracted because of Bobbi Kristina, the stress of taking care of his daughter was obviously taking its toll.
At that time, Krissy had just been moved to hospice care, which signaled that the family was already starting to accept that Whitney's only daughter was not going to stay for long.
Due to Bobbi Kristina's deteriorating health, Bobby and Pat Houston, Whitney's sister-in-law, were assigned by the courts as her guardians in May, according to the People. They were the ones who made the choice to take the young girl off medications and move her to hospice care.
Meanwhile, Bobby was spotted at the hospice on the night he lost his angel. A Brown relative told People that he was the one who called up family members and friends to tell them of Bobbi Kristina's fate.
"He is holding it together more than you'd expect," revealed the relative. "He knew it was coming. Of course he's very emotional, but at the same time, he knows that Krissy is in a better place now. He is taking comfort in the fact that she's with her mother, and that there will be no more sadness or pain. She is at peace. He knows that, and is taking comfort in that."
